“Performance rights organization (PRO) ASCAP is now pondering ways to defuse the influence of non-traditional copyright thinkers… According to an invitation mailed to certain members and executives, ASCAP is coordinating a luncheon on February 3rd to discuss a number of top issues.  That includes “licensing and rate proceedings in the digital area,” “the new Congress,” and “working together to counter the growing prevalence of the ‘copy left/free culture’ pontificators in the public discourse about creators rights.” —

ASCAP Targets “Copy Left / Free Culture” Enemy

How about instead of trying to squeeze out money by limiting and restricting things, you start working on finding ways to get consumers to want to give you money.

You want things to work the same way they did 20 years ago. They’re not going to. Square peg, round hole. Stop violently hammering that square peg, and focus your efforts on finding the round one.

I can’t help but this that this related to this which is related to this, and that concludes my two cents on this slowly dying beast of an industry.

I don’t care what Ryan Schreiber thinks!
